A vintage oil painting of a village landscape by Chauncey Foster Ryder (American, 1868–1949). Painted in Ryder’s own Post-Impressionism style, this painting features a town below, with mountains beyond. Painted on canvas, this art is signed to the lower right. It is presented in a gold tone wood frame with red under tones, with a linen mat. Reverse is marked framed by ‘Raymond Gallery, Cincinnati.’ It includes a rear wire and is ready to hang.
Chauncey Foster Ryder is an American landscape painter, lithographer and etcher. Born in Danbury, Connecticut, he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Art Students League in New York and at the Académie Julian in Paris. Ryder is known to strike a unique balance between detail and generality, while achieving a reflective appearance. He is best known for his New England barren landscapes.
