An original watercolor of landscape, thought to be be Cley Church in Norfolk by artist Arthur Gerald Ackermann (British, 1876–1960). This watercolor on paper depicts a distant cathedral and surrounding village across flat planes, against a dramatic cloud filled sky. Signed Gerald Ackermann to the lower right. The art is presented in a mottled gold tone frame under glass, with off-white and beige matts.
Born in London, Gerald Ackermann, alias Arthur Gerald Ackermann was educated at New College, Eastborne, studied art at Heatherleys, and later at Royal Academy schools. He widely painted in Britain with a fondness for both Essex and Norfolk. He is known for his careful delineation of architectural subjects, use of strong colors and vivid detail.
