An original oil painting on canvas by listed American artist Lajos Markos (Texas, 1917 – 1993). This painting depicts a formal portrait of a seated woman in a green dress. A strand of pearls graces her neck, and her hand is elegantly posed on the chair arm. This work is signed and dated in red pigment to the lower right. It is housed in a gold tone wood frame with elaborate cast molding and a beige linen liner. An engraved brass plaque indicating the artist is attached to the base, and a hanging wire is present to the verso.

Condition

- stretcher mark to left side. Scratch to painting to lower left. Accretion across surface. Visible drips and darkening to varnish. Stains to linen line and minor wear to frame.
