A vintage papier mâché zebra sculpture from the Mexican art studio Tonala Sermel. Founded in the 1960s by artists Sergio Bustamante and Melquiades Preciado, the Sermel studio in Tonala is well-noted for its hand crafted papier mâché works. This piece depicts a resting zebra and is hand painted with a gloss finish. It is hand signed ‘Sermel, Tonala Jal Mex’ to the hip.

- to fair; the piece has a crack to the spine; smaller chips to the finish throughout.
