An early twentieth century Gaucho knife with sheath from Argentina. This is a gaucho puñales knife, used by the gauchos for cutting chores rather than fighting. The handle and sheath are made from alpaca silver with copper embellishments and are embossed with flower and leaf designs. The blade is marked Atahualpa Tandil Ind.Argentina. The handle is engraved with the monogram JB and the sheath is engraved with the date 21.11.00.
