An etching with aquatint on paper after an etching by French engraver Jean Claude Richard after a drawing by Jean Honoré Fragonard titled L’Ane Rétif. This work features a boy trying to drag a stubborn donkey rendered with soft tones. It is signed ‘Fragonard’ in plate to the lower left and marked ‘Saint-non SC. 1770’ in plate to the lower right. This print is presented matted and housed in a giltwood frame beneath glass.
Condition
- paper is toned and contains some water stains; dust and accretions to the mat, glass, and frame; scratches and chipping to frame.
