Doug Delind Handbuilt Raku Pottery Abstract Bust

A handbuilt raku fired stoneware bust sculpture by noted ceramist and ceramic arts educator Doug Delind. The sculpture has an irregularly arched top with sculpted and incised facial features accented in burnt oranges, ivory, and copper green tones, showing carbon trapping in the bisqued clay surrounding the face. It rises on a thrown and trimmed round base, and is stamped with the makers mark at the top right.
Delind received a BFA and and MFA in sculpture from Michigan State University. His worked has been featured in numerous gallery exhibitions, and he has created large municipal installations. His work has been featured in Ceramics Monthly and American Craft, and he is presently an Associate Professor at the Michigan State University Residential College in the Arts and Humanities.
