Vintage Japanese Satsuma Stoneware Teapot

Item Details

A vintage Japanese Satsuma stoneware teapot. This piece features a delicate maple tree and bird motif on an ivory glaze with a craquelure finish. The lid is topped with a ball finial, framed by a radial motif. The teapot is marked ‘Kōzan’ (光山) to the underside and finished with gilt trim.

Condition

- two repaired breaks to teapot handle with adhesive residue; spots of discoloration; areas of gentle wear to gilt trim and decoration; intentionally crazed finish.
