A mid to late 20th-century oil painting on enameled copper by J. Ritter. The piece depicts a 16th-century conquistador wearing black armor and a red sash while holding a sword in his hand. The work is marked with incised wave and craquelure style patterns throughout the image. The painting is signed by hand to the lower center right, appearing to read ‘J. Ritter’. It is mounted to a black wooden panel fitted with sawtooth hanging hardware to the verso.

- chips and media loss throughout painting, especially to edges; scuff marks and dents to enamel and wood surfaces; incised pattern throughout painted surface; wear to edges and corners of back panel.
