An oil painting on canvas board of a winter townscape by listed American artist Henry Gasser Henry Gasser (1909 – 1981). This work exhibits an elevated perspective featuring colorful houses with snow-covered rooftops and a small church in the background. The work is signed to the lower right. It is presented in an Arts & Crafts style gilt and gesso frame with lower relief foliate moulding.

Henry Gasser was raised in New Jersery and began his art studies at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and the Grand Central School of Art. He further his art education at the Art Students League of New York, and studied under Robert Bracman and John R. Grabach. Involved in multiple art communities, he served as the Vice President of the National Academy of Design and the American Watercolor Society. His work has been collected by numerous institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Smithsonian American Art Museum; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among many others.
