19th Century Oak Renaissance Revival Bench

A late 19th century Renaissance Revival bench. The bench is made in oak with a dark walnut colored finish and features ornate carvings throughout with rope detail to the top, a pair of facing heraldic winged lions to the center of the back surrounded by scrolled vines a leaves and carved figural head and leaf details to the arms. The seat of the bench is upholstered in green leather with nail head trim and is hinged to reveal storage in the seat. The front of the lower half of the bench is ornately carved in a repeated scroll motif with heraldic cartouche to the center, leaf motif to the sides and is flanked by framed relief gothic style figural heads. The bench rests on large round feet. The lock hardware has been removed. Circa 1870.
