Item Details
An antique late Federal cherry southern sugar chest, probably Tennessee or Kentucky, circa 1820-1840. The dovetailed case features a rectangular, hinged lid with breadboard ends opening to a divided interior with poplar secondaries. There is a strip of waist molding over a single, dovetailed drawer with wooden knobs and the chest rises on short, ring-turned legs ending in ball feet.

- to fair; lid with some light ring stains as well as some repaired shrinkage cracks and a replaced hinge mounting strip along the back edge; hinges have been replaced and reset; retains interior divider; retains interior lock plates but missing latch on lid and no key; other scratches, nicks, and minor imperfections.
