A hand-knotted and carved Chinese area rug. This rug has a high wool pile with carved detail throughout. The deep aqua field has a central medallion flanked by bamboo, plum blossom, lotus and floral motifs as well as chrysanthemum spandrels; rendered in a cocoa; navy; cream and peach color palette. The field is framed by a resolved compound border featuring a geometric guard border in aqua, navy and cream and a peach main border with a floral motif. The rug is finished with wool natural warp fringe to each end.
