4/50 Limited Edition
A signed limited edition offset lithograph by well-noted historical artist Mort Künstler (American, 1931) titled Covered With Glory. The 1999 work depicts the 26th from North Carolina marching through a celebratory crowd in Front Royal, Virginia in June of 1863. The 26th would later lose eight-five percent of their ranks on the battlefields of Gettysburg. The Hors de Commerce print is numbered ‘HC 4/50’ to the lower left and is signed in graphite by the artist to the lower right. The title is printed to the bottom center of the paper. In addition, the print is personalized by the artist and dedicated to Mary Louise Davis in memory of her husband, the writer Archie Davis, author of the book Boy Colonel of the Confederacy. The print is presented with grey matting and housed in a burled frame. This item coordinates with item 18CLT077-136, a signed hardcover copy of the Archie Davis book referenced above.
