Vintage German Sculpted Wax Wall Plaque
Item Details
A vintage art wax plaque from Germany. This piece is made of dark yellow wax, dry brushed in black ink and features a man wearing a tricorn and cape, riding a horse positioned in the ‘levade’ position, against a fortress and mountainous landscape. This plaque resembles the 1801 painting titled Napoleon at Saint Bernard Passage by Jacques-Louis David (1748-1825), which depicts Napoleon astride a rearing horse in a mountainous landscape. The wall plaque is unmarked and mounted in a clear acrylic frame.
Condition
- good to fair; some cracking to the upper right quadrant of the wall plaque; crack to the upper right border; some warping to the plaque; consistent with age and use for material nature.
- some wear, markings, scratching, residue, light chipping and denting to be expected with age and use.
