Chinese Budai Five Children Porcelain Figurine

An early 20th century seated Budai with five children. A porcelain figurine and an intricately carved wood stand. Budai (布袋), a folkloric deity of happiness and contentment who is also known as the Laughing Buddha. He is depicted smiling, with a rotund belly, and fat earlobes. The children symbolize good luck and household of laughter, good fortune and respectful children. The figure is nicely painted with colorful floral designs and costume. Budai and all of the children are wearing cheerful expressions and coloful attire. The stand is wood with a walnut brown finish and features a pierced and layered design with bracket feet. The figure is stamped on the underside.

Condition
- Buddha and the children have very little paint loss, the stand is showing some wear with scuffs and finish loss.
- the child on the left shoulder has crack and there is some residue glue from the repair.
