A Marbro Lamp Company table lamp with an alabaster base. The lamp has two sockets marked ‘Marbro Lamp Company/Los Angeles, Cal.’ and ‘01490’ with pull chain switches and a brass pole and finial. The body of the lamp is made of carved and polished Italian alabaster and it stands on a antiqued circular base. The design features animal heads and swags as well as acanthus leaves. The Marbro Lamp Company was started after World War II by the Markoff brothers in Los Angeles and was well known for its high end lamps made from materials sourced from around the world.
