An original mixed media painting on canvas by contemporary American artist Linnea Head (Montana/Ohio), titled 7 from the artist’s Fiona in Color series. The painting uses acrylic paints and pastels to depict Fiona the Hippo in bright, expressive colors. Fiona became a local celebrity after being born prematurely at the Cincinnati Zoo in 2017 and receiving extensive national news coverage and social media attention. Here, Fiona floats in a pale body of water as she gazes towards the viewer. The painting is initialed by the artist to the lower right and is signed and titled to the verso, where business cards from the artist are also included. The painting is presented without matting or framing, but is gallery-wrapped and ready to hang.
Head studied at Xavier University in Cincinnati and currently works out of a studio at Cincinnati’s Brazee Street Studios.
