An original 19th century oil painting on canvas by very well-listed American painter Hudson Mindell Kitchell (New York/New Jersey/Rhode Island, 1862 – 1944). The painting depicts a Tonalist landcape, where bright yellow light shines through a gap in a densely silhouetted trees that fill the landscape. The painting is signed to the lower right. It is presented in a wooden fame with carved surface texture, gold tone finish, and a hanging wire attached to the verso. More information about the artist can be found below.
Condition
- significant craquelure to painting’s surface. Painting appears to have been painted over top of another piece, which peaks through in the paint’s cracks. Discoloration to painting’s surface.
