Late 19th Century Reed & Barton Silver Plate Soup Tureen with Elk Finial

An elegant late Victorian soup tureen by Reed & Barton (established 1840, Taunton, MA). It features an Aesthetic engraved band across the shoulders, and angular Greek handles. The shallow domed lid is topped with a young elk finial, and it rises on cast flaring hoof feet with elk head knees. The tureen marked underneath ‘Plate Pat’d June 30 1868 Mf’d& Plated by Reed & Barton 2245 12’.

- some minor surface wear with faint markings and minimal tarnishing.
