A large contemporary, Ecclesiastical, hand carved and lightly painted, carved wooden wall sculpture of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This religious work depicts a the Madonna serenely, standing with arms open upon a starry globe encircled by a serpent and finished in soft neutral tones with gilt accents. This representation of the Madonna is often referred to as the ‘Mary, Our Lady of Peace’ a variation of the iconography of Our Lady, Queen of Heaven. The piece is unsigned by the artist and unmarked.

- index finger to left hand is missing.
