1944 Mt. Vesuvius Eruption Geological Specimens

A collection of geological specimens from the 1944 eruption of Mount Vesuvius. This selection of geological specimens was collected between March 22nd and 26th, 1944 from the southern Italian volcano Mt. Vesuvius. The specimens represented range in type and size and include various samples of sediment from the volcano enclosed in two divided glass tubes. The specimens are presented in two hinged cardboard boxes with imitation leather to the exterior, each with an image of the volcano and a description in French.
