A steel tube and leather armchair titled Wassily Chair by well-known artist and architect Marcel Breuer. This chair features sleek metal delineations juxtaposed with earthy leather straps.
A student of the Bauhaus, Marcel Breuer is known for his steel tube furniture and bold architectural designs. Breuer studied carpentry under Walter Gropius at the Bauhaus, where he created his innovative tubular steel furniture designs including his instant classic the Wassily Chair. In addition to his furniture, Breuer was also a famed architect who established his own architecture firm in Berlin in 1928, which he moved it to New York in 1946. Some of his firm’s most notable design projects include the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York and the UNESCO Building in Paris.
