A Russian lacquerware box hand-painted with a scene from Tsar Saltan And Three Sisters (Сказка о царе Салтане). The square piece depicts three sisters in a colorful room, one of whom has been chosen as the bride of the Tsar. The piece is signed and titled to the lower edge, framed with gilt filigree trim on a black ground. The hinged box is finished with a vibrant red interior.
