Born in Illinois, Lyman Byxbe was primarily based in Nebraska and Colorado. He is especially known for his etchings and his majestic depictions of American Western landscapes. His work has been collected by multiple institutions including the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Gallery of Art, and the Library of Congress, among others.
