An antique European oil portrait of a woman on canvas by an anonymous artist, created circa 1840. This oil painting depicts a woman in Georgian-era dress, her hair arranged in careful ringlets and a cameo brooch at her neckline. The slightly-smiling figure is seated before a dark room flanked by deep red curtains, and holds a folded fan in her hands. She wears a gold tone chain around her neck, possibly leading to a concealed watch. This piece is presented unframed and does not appear to bear a signature.

- inpainting throughout piece; extensive crazing to paint; tear, paint loss with heavy wear to edges and corners; visible stretcher marks; discoloration to canvas verso; canvas is very loose; would benefit from cleaning.
