Serigraph After Victor Vasarely "Lapidre Caruegue"

Item Details

A geometric serigraph on paper after a painting by well-listed Hungarian-French Op Artist Victor Vasarely (neé Gyözö Vásárhelyi, 1906-1997), titled Lapidre Caruegue. This colorful print depicts an arrangement of angled cubes detailed with circles and diamonds and set against contrasting grounds. The print is marked with the artist’s in-plate signature to its lower right and is matted in a metal frame with a wire for hanging.

Widely considered a father of the Op Art movement, Vasarely was known for his colorful paintings and serigraphs. The artist took inspiration from various European influences including Bauhaus design principles, Surrealism, Constructivism, and Wassily Kandinsky (Russian, 1866 – 1944). Vasarely’s works are noted for their ability to create illusionary depth with color, geometric repetition, and strong graphic designs. Today, the artist’s works can be found in a variety of private and public collections including the Tate (London), the EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art (Espoo, Finland), and more.
