Antique Neoclassical Inkwell and Mother of Pearl Dip Pen
Item Details
An antique Neoclassical inkwell with mother of pearl dip pen. The ink pot features arabesque detailing, with a central medallion of a hunting scene to the top and portrait medallions around the sides. The base of the inkwell includes a pair of double dragon-style handles with extensive arabesque detailing in relief throughout and rests on four stacked legs finished with acanthus leaf detailing. The inkwell is constructed of a copper alloy and the pen features a mother of pearl barrel with a gold tone metal nib. There are no discernible maker’s marks.

- the hinge of the lid has detached; finish wear and wear to the designs in relief around the inkwell; oxidation noted throughout with extensive verdigris to the interior of the lid; finish wear to the nib of the pen.
