An oil painting on wood panel by monk of the Fransiscan Order and artist Brother Matthew, O.S.F. (1923-2007). This piece depicts a man wearing a purple cape with a cross on the front and carrying a red pillow upon which sits the crown of thorns that would adorn Jesus’ head at the crucifixion. It is signed to the lower right and presented in a wood frame with black and gold tone painted accents and fluted cove molding. There is wire to the verso for hanging.

- nicks to frame; scratches and abrasions to surface of painting; tears to paper backing.
