William Henry Chandler was born in New York and is known for his pastel drawings and oil paintings of landscapes and still-lifes. He was also known for being a deeply religious man and used his art as a way of expressing his faith. He began his art career as an engraver for a button factory in Chicago and later opened up his own successful art studio.
