Vintage Dutch "Atlas" Wall Clock
Item Details
A vintage Dutch Atlas wall clock. This wall clock features a wooden case with a carved back plate, is accented with brass twisted columns, a carved lower finial and a brass balcony inscribed “Nu. Elck. Syn. Sin.” The Dutch inscription translates to “Now everybody gets what he wants”. The brass rail is topped by two lions surrounding a crest. The figure of Atlas holding the world on his shoulders is mounted to the top of the striking bell. The silver-toned clock face features Roman and Arabic numbers, ornate hour and minute hands and is bordered by brass corner spandrels on a brown corduroy backing. The clock has two tear drop shaped weights on chains. The door to the verso opens to the clock mechanism and features a crowned shield sticker to the interior marked JWA.
