Richard Roflow Oil Painting on Panel
Item Details
A 1973 oil painting on panel by well-listed American painter Richard Roflow (Maine/Ohio, 1932 – 2015). The painting depicts a rustic farmhouse and barn standing in a grassy field. Snow covers the scene, marked by early signs of spring. The painting is completed in faded washes of white, blue, brown, and gray. It is signed in paint to the lower left and presented in a rustic barn wood frame with a hanging wire attached to its verso.
Roflow studied at the Cincinnati Art Academy in the mid-20th century before moving to coastal Maine, where his paintings have been deeply influenced by the rocky seascapes and coastal storms that surround him. Roflow has twice won the National Park Academy of the Arts and was selected to have work displayed during the Obama’s stay at the Presidential Suite at the Bar Harbor Regency in Maine.
