A soft-ground etching on paper titled The Angelus after a painting by Jean-François Millet (French, 1814-1875). This piece depicts a man and woman in a field at the end of a day’s harvest, heads bowed in prayer over a basket of potatoes. The print is signed in plate to the lower right corner and presented behind glass in a gold tone wood and gesso frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- discoloration to paper; spots throughout the image area with image loss; nicks and scratches around the frame.
