A 1939 Art Deco Philco model 39-45 console tube radio. Presented is a vintage console radio featuring dark stained wood pieced in a decorative marquesty linear pattern. The nine tube radio features a knob to the right side to choose from Short Wave, Police and Standard bands. It also includes an option for using the ‘Push Button’ locators. The tuner displays locators for aircraft and ship transmissions, locators for broadcasts from Berlin, Warsaw, Japan, Africa and more, and locators for U.S. radio stations with standard frequencies from 500 to 1700. Along the bottom of the display are eight buttons for preset stations. To the left side the radio has knobs to control tone (treble and bass) and volume. The controls are accented with a brass plate. An accordion style lid on the top conceals the controls when not in use. Light peach-brown diamond patterned fabric and five dark stained wood dowels protect the speakers.
