A Charles A. Coffin medal. This award, created in honor of Charles A. Coffin the first C.E.O. of General Electric, recognized companies which had made a distinguished contribution to the development of electric railway transportation. The obverse of this medal features a portrait of Charles A. Coffin; the reverse depicts a Greek god on two horses with the sun in the background, above six lines of text explaining the purpose of the award. Listed below the six line explanation is the name of the award winner and year; this award recognizing ‘Union Electric Company of Missouri 1948’.
