Francis Lightfoot Lee Autograph Letter Signed December 27, 1770
Item Details
An exceedingly rare autograph letter signed by American Revolutionary Patriot Francis Lightfoot Lee to George Turberville. Virginia businessman Francis Lightfoot Lee (1734-1797) was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses in 1765, and in 1770 hand-wrote this letter of personal and financial affairs, which he signed to the bottom margin. Lee later signed the Articles of Confederation and the Declaration of Independence, and served in the Virginia Senate for four years. The letter is presented in a black mat, under glass in a black frame with a gold-toned border and a wire hanger with typewritten explanatory note to the verso. Mount Airy, December 27, 1770.
