Salvador Dalí Etching "Flower-Women at the Piano"

An etching on Japon paper titled Flower-Women at the Piano from The Hippies series by well-listed Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí (1904-1989). This work depicts a group women with floral bouquets for heads. A cloth like piano is present to the lower portion of the composition. This piece is signed in graphite to the lower right corner. It is numbered ‘XXX/C’ to the lower left corner. It is presented behind acrylic float mounted in a gold tone frame. Hanging hardware is present to the verso.

  • This piece is included in the catalogue raisonné, “The Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dali” by Albert Field, catalogue pages 56-7, figure 69-13B.

Dalí was born in Figueres, Spain to Salvador Dalí y Cusi, a lawyer and notary, and Felipa Domenech Ferres. His mother encouraged his artistic pursuits a eccentricities. In 1922 Dalí enrolled at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain. It was during this time that he went to Paris started interacting with Picasso, Magritte, and Miro leading to his first Surrealist phase. Dalí is best known for his Surrealist painting, drawing, photography, and sculptures. His works are housed in many private collections and museums across the globe.
