An antique French pewter plate with emblem of Francis I. This 1800s plate with shaped rim, natural patina and cast relief depicts the symbol of Francis I, King of France (reigned 1515 to 1547). The symbol is a salamander and crown, his emblematic animal. Three touchmarks to underside are attributed to maker Arthur Chaumette of Paris, first in business in 1887.
