Vintage Skandia Furniture Secretary With Bookcase

Vintage secretary with bookcase, most likely walnut, manufactured by Skandia Furniture Co. Rockford, IL. , with viking ship logo inside drawer. Features 4 curved drawers, and 2 key locks (key is present) . This piece has a fold down writing table with slide out supports. Inside are 3 pull out drawers. A fan motif decorates the prospect door. There are column motifs on either side of the prospect door that pull out for hidden storage. The glass bookcase doors have decorative fretwork and close over 3 shelves. This piece also features eagle claw and ball feet, a broken pediment top and a carved finial. Beautiful antiqued brass hardware on the drawers.
Skandia furniture was located in Rockfrord, IL from 1889-1941. Skandia furniture was known for making quality items. Many Swedish immigrant wood workers worked for Skandia after arriving in the Unites States. Skandia was the largest furniture manufacturer in Rockford, IL at one time. Most of their products were made out of walnut.
Condition
Light scratching and wear in the front is consistent with age and wear.
