George Washington Signed Free Frank Address Panel to Nephew Lawrence Lewis

An exceedingly rare George Washington signed free frank panel addressed to nephew Lawrence Lewis (1767–1839). The panel, addressed in Washington’s hand, reads ‘Alex (Alexandria, Virginia) 7 Aug. / Free / Mr. Lawrence Lewis / Recommended to the care of Maj. Geo. Lewis, Fredericksburg / Go: Washington’. The address panel is housed in frame below an intaglio print featuring George Washington. The items are presented beneath green matting and encompassed by a black and gold tone frame with hanging wire affixed at its verso. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.

- small tear to top panel margin; (2) smoothed folds; slight discoloration to paper; glass was removed from frame.
