A Samuel F. Smith (1808-1895) autographed first verse of America: My Country, ’Tis of Thee. Smith wrote the lyrics of the song to the melody of God Save The Queen while a student at the Andover Theological Seminary. This piece features the handwritten first verse of the song, autographed by Smith, noted as written in 1832, and dated April 1, 1895. The piece is presented matted, under glass, in black wooden frame with gold tone fillet. It is ready to hang with a sawtooth hanger to the verso.
