A grayscale lithograph on paper of a farm genre scene titled Harvest by listed American artist Aaron Gunn Pyle (1909-1972), created in 1950. This work features a couple farmers on a tractor with some harvesting equipment in an expansive rural field. The work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right margin; the artist’s in plate signature is also present to the lower left. The composition is presented under glass with off-white matting, and housed in a brown wood frame. A short biography of the artist is attached to the verso.
Born in Kansas and primarily based in Nebraska, Aaron Pyle was known for his compositions featuring regional landscapes. Having studied under Thomas Hart Benton at the Kansas City Art Institute, the artist was heavily influenced by Benton’s Regionalist style. His work has been collected by multiple institutions including the Museum of Nebraska Art, the National Gallery Art, and the LUX Center for the Arts, among others.
