A posthumous bronze sculpture after Frederic Remington’s (1861–1909) The Mountain Man. This sculpture depicts a trapper and horse descending a steep hill as their motion is suspended in mid-stride. The statue is mounted to a black and white marble base with a metal plate describing the title and artist name. The sculpture is also marked in-mold to the back with ‘Copyright by Frederic Remington.’
Remington was an American painter, illustrator, writer, and sculptor who specialized in depicting the Old American West. He concentrated on the last quarter of the 19th century American West and created images of cowboys, American Indians, and cavalry.
