A pair of shunga style ink and gouache paintings on rice paper after renowned Japanese artist Kitagawa Utamaro (喜多川 歌麿; c. 1753 – 1806). These erotic paintings depict men and women making love, rendered in a vibrant palette of blue, purple and orange hues. The work is presented unsigned and unframed.
Condition
- discoloration to paper; foxing marks throughout both pieces; tape to edges of paintings; some creasing and wear to edges of paintings and backing.
