An oil painting on academy board of a landscape by listed American artist August Goeser (born 1858), dated 1904. Depicted is a pastoral scene with a single figure hearing cattle. It is signed and dated to the lower left corner. The work is presented without a frame.
August Goeser was born in St. Louis, Missouri and is known for painting landscapes, marine, and nature scenes. He was also an active member of the Cincinnati Art Club from approximately 1880 to 1909.
Condition
- to fair; corner wear to the board; frame rub and a single nail hole along the edges of the board from previous framing; overall toning to the surface of the paint from previously being framed; the painting and the signature are clean under UV light.
