A drapo Vodou flag from Haiti depicting the ‘Ceremony for Damballah’, the creator of the universe. This banner depicts the creator as a serpent, with a candle, bottle of rum and rattle in four square shaped windows. Pink, silver-tone, green and brown sequins are sewn on the image, filling the space with sparkling texture. Drapo Vodou flags are generally produced by practicing Vodou priests and members of their congregation, and reflect the rich Catholic and Vodou (Voodoo) traditions of Haitian culture. This piece includes a tag with additional information, and hangs by the upper edge.
