An Eastern Orthodox icon oil painting on board of the Virgin Hodegetria. This piece presents the stylized religious figures of Mary and the Christ child in deep red and gold-tone robes against an ocher ground with halos and the Greek monograms of their names. The work is presented unframed with a hook for hanging to the verso.

- craquelure and flaking paint; scratches and dents to surface of image; wear to edges and corners of panel; worm holes to upper left corner to the verso; inpainting and overpainting throughout.
