Item Details
A Victorian Aesthetic period 14K yellow gold diamond lovers locket. This features a locket with an oxidized base, with beaded gold accents throughout. There is a center rose, green, and yellow gold floral and butterfly accent housing an old mine cut diamond. The locket is engraved ‘1864, 19 Janyar, 1889,’ to the backside, a date span of 25 years. When the locket is opened, there is a space for a photograph opposite an engraved textured lid, that has the names ‘Amalia’ and ‘Karl’ connected by two hands engaged in a handshake. Representative of two lovers, this symbol is also seen in gimmel rings, known as betrothal rings.
