Japanese Wooden Rice Buckets

Item Details

A pair of vintage Japanese wooden rice buckets. Each of these round buckets is constructed of wooden staves held together with horizontal bands at the top and bottom and two square -U shaped bands which extend down each side and across the bottom. Each bucket has a pair of thick sturdy handles; the handles on one bucket appear to have been constructed separately and attached, and on the second bucket appear to be part of the wooden stave.

Condition

- some rust on the metal bands. Insect damage to the wood on the underside of one bucket. No indication of recent activity.
