Antique Gerz Stoneware Ewer

Item Details

An antique salt glazed stoneware ewers by Simon Peter Gerz, circa 1880-1900. The vessel has flat sides decorated with a large medallion featuring shields and crests. Symbols of the regions of Trier and Pfalz are on each side. The glazing on the ewers is cobalt blue over gray, with engraved patterns on the sides. The spout is an anthropomorphic lion’s head. It marked with an early Gerz stamp and the number 776B.
